Just new to this. Does a turntable require a pre amp to boost the signal to Sound forge? All i get is a very faint playback Thanks Jack |

A magnetic cartridge will require a preamp. Most hi-fi cartridges are of the magnetic type. Ceramic cartridges don't need a preamp for proper signal level, but one is still desirable to correct the RIAA EQ curve that is used on all LP records. |

Yes -- of course. You must amplify the signal. I personally use this little product -- From Rolls... http://www.zzounds.com/item--RLLVP29 it is clean, small and rugged. |
