Subject:Matching Old & New Audio

I have a project that I'm working on and I have to incorporate a 3 minute video that was previously shot. There are 2 custom sections that area 'talking head'. Then in post we drop the new sections into the Old Video at their respective points. The problem occurs when we have to match the audio. The new sections audio seems to have more of a 'Room Tone' and she seems more 'Distant' than the old one.

Someone mentioned taking an 'Audio Snapshot' of the Old Audio and applying it to the New Audio. How do you do this?

Does anyone have a fail proof way of matching the audio?

Thanks in advance!
Lamont

Sorry, There is not a lot you can do. You can try EQing or using a Noise Gate/Expander but you probably won't like the results.
Try adding an artifical reverb to the dry clip to simulate the ambient sound of the room. If theres excessive background noise aka, room tone, the Noise Reduction plug-in will work wonders.

FYI: In the pro audio/film/video world, the term "Room Tone" is not the acoustical character of a room. It is the background noise. ie: HVAC, distant traffic and other inside and outside sounds that are present.
Usually 10 or 20 sec.s of this this "Room Tone" noise is recorded at the end of an interview or scene take for post editing porposes.
