For my next Sony Boom Box to play PCA files directly from cd.

For my next Sony MP3 player to play PCA files

For my next Sony minidisc to play PCA files.

Seems like Sony now owns the best Lossless Compression format in the world, might as well take it to the world.

You're definately posting this on the wrong website if that's what you're looking for. Sony is a pretty large company, and although they have one thing in common, that being the "Sony" name, that's basically alls it is. Sonic Foundry's audio software division was bought out by "Sony Pictures Digital", a totally different division from the Sony Consumer Electronics portable audio division. It's pretty much like going to someone at Panasonic who works for the microwave division and telling them you would like .MP3/.WMA support in your Panasonic DVD player.

PCA is actually very minimal compression, and MP3 can be very minimal quality loss. PCA may be good for lossless archiving, but it doesn't really make sense as a compressed format for final playback. It only saves about half the space. MP3 at 160Kbps sounds almost as good at a 9:1 compression ratio. Do an A/B comparison, can you really tell the difference with your ears? Why bother using PCA for playback?
