Subject:What is causing "clicks" at the beginning of play?

I know this looks like a newbie question, but it isn't.

I have a series of waves that didn't click at the beginning of the file in SF6, but they are in SF7 (and in Acid now as well). These waves loop seamlessly without any pops. With looping disabled, they end without any pops. Both channels of the waves begin at a zero crossing.

Now, here's the kicker -- if I put a second of silence at the beginning of the wave, the attack no longer clicks. Also, in Acid, if I have any amount of pre-roll at all, the beginning of the file doesn't click. If I start right on the button, it clicks.

I'm thinking this may be a soundcard issue (Delta 44 / XP Pro), but I've not noticed it until going to SF7. Was there some sort of alteration to the Sony engine in this version? Has this happened to anyone else? It's just wierd -- almost as if there's a micr-second delay in playback that picks up where you are in the wave in real time, as opposed to latency, where you have the delay but hear the entire thing from the start.

It could be an issue with the Delta drivers and playback in 7.0. I noticed that the Delta drivers in 6.0 were hit or miss (the file would playback, but I'd get no sound), while the same drivers work fine in 7.0.

Strangely, I have no such issues like you, though.
