Subject:Bad MP3 Conversion in Batch Converter 5.0

I've got SF 5 as well as BE 5. SF 5 uses an MP3 plugin V1.1 and it works great. When I try to use the plugin in BE 5, which is V2.0, I often get static in my results.

I'm down sampling to 32Kbits and it sounds great out of SF but horrible out of BE 5.

Can I somehow tie in the V1.1 plugin into BE? Or does anyone know of a fix?

Thanks,

Marc

ALL of my mpeg (MPG1, MPG2 & MP3) will not be recogonized in BC 5, nor will it render to them. Mucho error messages. Don't know why this is, but it's defintely time for an upgraded BC.

There is a bug with the mp3 conversion in Batch Converter. It's a known issue, but Sony doesn't think they will be addressing it. At least that's the feeling I got when I contacted them about it.

Hello Fellow Forum users,

If you dont mind, me asking the following question, what is the bug, and what is the nature of the bug. I have been using Batch Converter very agressively to process files on a daily basis. Is it possible that I have enabled a systematic flaw in my recordings by applying the wave to MP3-320 -- scripting operation available in Batch Converter 5.0.

Please elaborate on this issue.

Thanks,
Kevin

The bug is that you get static/popping in your mp3s. At least that's what I found. Listen carefully to your converted mp3s and see if you can hear it.
I was using BC to normalize a whole bunch of mp3s and saving as mp3s. Here's my scenario... I rip quite a few of my CDs to mp3 format to make a "best of" mp3 CD that I can then listen to on my home stereo. Now all the mp3s end up with different volume levels. So I figured I'd normalize them in BC and make an even volume level. What resulted was static heard randomly in my conversions. Unusable for my needs.
If you're not getting static converting from wave to mp3, please let us know.

Hello Myst,

Thanks for your reply. I will test my system with audio files that have crystal clear fidelity. Then I will apply the scripts that I am using in batch coverter 5.0B, and make observations for the artifacts that you have unfortunately detected in your MP3's. I cannot claim that the MP3 conversion engine is currently harming my files since, I am coverting static-prone vinyl based music into wave and mp3 files. Some of them are originally litered with static signatures while others are nearly perfectly clear. I will be in touch --

Bye -

I have created many MP3's using Batch converter --

unfortunately I do not get the "crackling" or "artifacts" that you mention.

I select MP3 - 320, highest accuracy setting and then convert. I have not noticed a audible distortion, I play back my MP3's via SF6 and MusicMatch etc.
