With SF 7, how can I play a file and record over it (while still keeping it intact) a the same time? I need to listen for the correct timing to play over it, and I can't figure out how to do it.

Sound Forge is an editing program and does not fasilitate "multi-track" recording. Vegas does..

Its not a "rip." You simply didn't choose the correct program for what you want to do. Vegas is what you need.
