Subject:Mono recording trouble in Sound Forge

Anytime I try to record a MONO track in Sound Forge7.0a the resulting file is full of pops, click, and stutters. But this only happens for mono recording. Sound Forge can record perfectly well if I choose to record a stereo file.

This seems rather strange to me. Acid and Vegas have no problem recording mono with the same sound card. This is only a Sound Forge 7 problem as both Sound Forge 5 and 6 had no trouble recording mono.

I should say too that this same thing occurs on both my studio and home computers.

Studio:
Win xp Pro, SP1
1 gig ram
5400 rpm program drive
2 7200 rpm audio drives
Egosys WamiRack 24 sound card

Home:
Win xp Pro, SP1
512 mb ram
5400 rpm program drive
1 7200 rpm audio drive
Egosys Waveterminal 192M sound card

Both systems are tweaked and optimised for audio and have nothing
running in the background.

Any ideas? My workaround for now is etiher to record everything in Vegas or record in stereo in Sound Forge and then convert to mono.

Thanks,

Dave

One other thing: When trying to record mono, does Sound Forge offer you a choice of mono inputs? Vegas and Acid give me stereo or left and right options for each set of inputs but Sound Forge only allows me to choose which stereo pair to record mono from. I can't choose left or right. So I just thought that if I wanted to record mono but there was signal present at both inputs, which input would Sound Forge record? Guess I'll give that a try later today.
