Hello I am digitally archiving audio from vinyl records, inherently there is a significant amount of mechanical noise, which is treatable via Sound Forge and its applicable pluggins. Using Noise reduction helps but I was curious amount the advantages of Waves restoration bundle. It is obvious that Waves costs a signifincant amount of money -- but the percieved ability of selective noise cancellation, and hum removal is attractive. Any comments? Thanks - Kevin *** |

Hey kevin... Dude if you got the cash to throw down and buy the restoration bundle I say do it. Even though I've worked quite a few miracles with sonicfoundrys/sonys restoration bundle, if I had the cash I'd buy it myself. I've been eyeing the renaissance bass for sometime and I'm thinking of getting it for a upcoming project. I've checked on the site and can't seem to find it sold by itself, only in the bundle. Though Maxxbass is sold on its own. Must do more reseach. The advantage of using the waves restoration instead of sofo/sonys is that waves does plugins for a living. IMHO your getting the most up to date techniques/quality of restoration. Sofo/sonys is great yes but dated compared to waves offering. HTH. Ed. |

I have seen the waves restoration bundle in use at the MIT media lab, for usage of artificial intelligence and actually noise recognition. It is clever how the laptop is running and then sequentially opening files to detect whether the robot is near a truck or a bus. Also I seen WAVES restoration on ebay for 600.00 -- I really wanna buy it, but I am also interested in buying a control surface and other cool stuff. Thanks -- Kevin |

If you got the $s. I would go with Waves. Though NR 2.0 works great also.. and for a lot less. Audition demos of each to make a judgement. |
