Hello, I'm trying to use 5.0f to record a wav from the line-in on my soundcard. This is the first time I've ever tried to use SF for this. The resulting WAV has errors, ie. it skips and jumps. Further analysis using task manager reveals SF is using ALL of the available CPU - approx 98%. This is causing the WAV skipping. The question is, why is the CPU so high? WHat is SF doing, surely, it should only be copying the data to the harddrive. If I use microsoft "sound recorder" or CDEX' s "analog capture", CPU utilization is about 5% and the resulting recorded WAV is perfect. SF is thus useless for recording. Any insight on this appreciated. Dave |

I guess I should have searched a little harder first. Frankly, I'm surprised the record counter is to blame. At least there's a circumvention.... Dave |

I never had any problem with the record counter. But did with other applications running in the background which resulted in clicks, pops, skips and stuttering. As a rule I always exit all unnessesary apps before doing any recording. ie: anti-virus, screensavers, reminders, ect. Of course, I'm not sure I used 5.0 for recording since I disliked it so much. I used 4.5 for recording until 6.0 was released. |
