Hi all,
I am trying to record a bass line over a guitar rythym but when I record the bass the original track (rythym) becomes part of the newley recorded track.

I have looked through the product and forums and cannot find the answer. Any help would be appreciated thanks :)

make sure your audio cards settings are not set to record "what you hear" (if its a sound blaster card, you will see this as an option on your sound card mixer.) make sure your recording is only set to your midi (if youre recording midi) or your .wav (if youre recording audio) on your sound cards mixer utility. this should solve your problem.

Hi!! I'm having the same probem as you Maaz, but I can't find any Options fort "recording what you hear" or something like that! I have a Audiophil 2496 from M-Audio, and i'm about to go crazy searching WHY my other audio or midi file is "leaking" on my new audio record!!

So, if someone can help me... I can't find how to fix this!!
Thanks a lot!

I have the Audiophile 2496.

When you record, ensure that you only have your intended hardware input for recording selected. Do not select, "Mixer In". That will record everything that's coming out of your soundcard, including playback.

For example, if I want to just record what's coming in via the S/PDIF input, I would ensure that "S/PDIF In Delta A/P" is selected under the "record device" option in the Record window.

Well.... I try what you said, but It didn't work, cuz i think that the input, from where I want to record, is the input for ALL the sounds that is comming from my computer! Can you tell me, what is selected on your control panel of your audiophil 2496 ?

That's a lot, cuz i'm REALLY goin' crazy with that!

Hmm...ACID should only record what comes into the selected hardware input.

Try this:

-Under the Delta Control Panel's "Patchbay/Router" tab, set the selected output to "Monitor Mixer".

-Under the "Monitor Mixer" tab, ensure that the related inputs and outputs have their sliders all the way up and are not muted.

-If recording S/PDIF, ensure that the Audiophile slaves itself to whatever source you're recording from under the "Hardware Settings" tab. (Set the Master Clock setting to "S/PDIF In.")

-In ACID, open up the Record window and under the "record device" option, choose the selected hardware input you want to record from. Click "Start". The meters shouldn't move while your project plays back until signals start coming through the selected input.

Can you tell me how your Audiophile is connected?

I have mine connected to both a mixer and my guitar effects processor in addition to a set of speakers. The Audiophile's RCA analog output is connected to the mixer's tape in (for monitoring purposes), while the S/PDIF out is connected to the speakers.

The guitar effects processor's S/PDIF out goes into the Audiophile's S/PDIF in.

Ok, i've tried what you said :
Under the Delta Control Panel's "Patchbay/Router" tab, set the selected output to "Monitor Mixer".

But when i comes to the Hardware Settings and set it to S/PDIF in, i hear a really bad NOIZY in my headphone
So, i let it to "internal Xtal".

And, when i go in Acid, it records ONLY if i choose the "Analog In 1Delta Ap (1)- Analog.

So i let it like that.

I try to record... I have the same problem (it record the background). :o(

So, my audiophil input is connected to the "Control Room Out " of my mixer. My guitar is connected in the first "line" of my mixer. My audiophil Output is connected to the line 5/6 of my mixer. And my headphone is connected to my mixer!

So, that's it....

Thanks a lot for helpind me, I REALLY goin' crazy with that!!!

You should set the "Master Clock" under the "Hardware Settings" tab to "S/PDIF In" only if you're actually recording from that input, as the Audiophile must slave itself to whatever external device is acting as master for S/PDIF recording.

Since you have the control room out going to the Audiophile's input and the Audiophile's output connected to the line inputs on your mixer, that's your problem right there.

Try this, it should work:

Connect your Audiophile's RCA analog out to Tape In on the mixer. Connect the Tape Out on the mixer to the Audiophile's RCA analog in.

Leave your guitar and your headphones connected as is to the mixer. Make sure only the "Tape to Control Room" button is depressed. (Do not engage the "Tape to Mix" switch.) Ensure that the control room out and main mix outs' levels are both set at (or close to) unity.

In the Delta Control Panel, make sure "H/W Out 1/2" is set to "Monitor Mixer". Under "Monitor Mixer", ensure that "H/W In 1/2" has its sliders unmuted and turned all the way up. (Check the outs too.)

Now go into ACID and try recording from the specific RCA analog input. You should be able to hear playback and monitor what you're recording all while recording only your guitar.

Hi there!
Well well well.... I did ALL you said... about the RCA out of my card, to my tape input of mixer, and my tape output to the input of my card and all the settings you said in my control panel : NO MORE SOUND!

I know that : when i record a guit track it record ONLY the guitar.. (cuz i see "the sound moving" in my recording window in acid. But, no sound's comming from my computer. And I mean ALL THE SOUND. No sounds from acid, no sounds from any other music programs :(

I have WinXP Pro, does t make a difference?
And, I didn't use the S/PDIF out and input, do i have to use it?
And, when i had sounds, it was because my "jack" was from the input of my card to the control room out of my mixer.

And, when you say : "Make sure only the "Tape to Control Room" button is depressed. (Do not engage the "Tape to Mix" switch.) " Where do I find the button?

So, now the problem it's just that I don't have sounds :'(

Thanks a lot for helping me!
Even if It didn't even work, you helped me a lot ;)

Having Windows XP Pro makes no difference. (I use XP Home myself.)

You do not have to use S/PDIF unless the system you're amping your guitar through provides such a connection. (For example, I have my DigiTech GNX2 guitar effect processor's S/PDIF out going into my Audiophile's S/PDIF in.)

It's critical your mixer have a tape signal assignment of some sort so that only "tape to control room" is engaged.

What's your mixer's make and model? Maybe I can find it for you online.

Wow, no wonder why you were confused. :)

In any case, I'd imagine you could engage just the "Tape" and "Main Mix" switches, which should route whatever's coming in via "Tape Input" to your headphones in addition to your guitar input on the mixer.

Just don't engage the "Tape to Main" switch, which would send whatever's coming in via "Tape Input" back out through "Tape Output".

Glad to hear you've made out OK. Enjoy!
