I need to 0dB tone for a timeline in Vegas. Vegas does not produce it on it's own (except when exporting to tape) - so is there a way to produce it in SoundForge? |

What kind of tone are you talking about? I'm kind of confused because you say Vegas will produce it when exporting to tape, so this leads me to believe you are talking about SMPTE. If you're talking about sinewave tones, then Sound Forge is the app you need. Sound Forge can create any frequency sinewave tone at any level you tell it. |

I'm not sure either what your looking for, but if it's a 1kHz test tone to go along with color bars, yes, as above, it would be: Tools->Synthesis->Simple; your amplitude should generaly be between (-12 & -20dB), aka: digital 0VU, depending on your client's or next media's requirments. For incoming projects deliverd on digtal meida, the majorTV networks "demand" -20dBfs as the SRL w/peaks hitting no higher than -10dB. |
