Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone who's using a M-Audio Delta card/interface in Windows XP is having a problem with recording in 24-bit in Sound Forge 7.0a using the latest supported drivers. (The 0036's.) I'm having problems with my Audiophile 2496; there's just lots of static with 24-bit recordings no matter what the input. Existing 24-bit files playback fine though. Can also record 16-bit just fine. Strange. Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

Hey Iacobus, I had not tried recording 24bit since updating to SF7a and the .36_Final drivers. So after reading your post I decided to check it out for myself. Recording @ 24bit, even 32bit seems to be recording fine. Using WinXP SP1a and a Delta 66. Some good news though, I always had a problem of SF only playing through one side (L or R) when recording @ 24bit with previous app & Delta driver versions. At least the latest Delta .36/SF7a combo has remedied that for me :) Billy Buck |

i have no problem recording 24 bits with my Audiophile, but then, i am not certain which driver revision i am using exactly. if the .36 build is very new i'm probably not using them. gonna check it out later on. |

well, turns out i didn't have the latest drivers. i installed them now and recorded something in 24 bit, 44 KHz. i don't get any statik or other kind of glitches. did you make certain the input source is set correctly in the control panel? |

Hmmm...I seem to have the problem solved. On the Wave tab under Options>Preferences on the menu bar, I checked "Try unpacked 24-bit format first". It now works fine. Strange, though. I didn't have to do this before. Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

Just discovered something else too: If you have that "try 24-bit unpacked" option unchecked and set the Delta's buffer too high, it causes the static. If it's set lower, it goes away. Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |
