Subject:Does a shuttle control work?

I have Contour Design's Shuttlepro 2 which moves the cursor along the audio timeline, but I cannot hear the audio. If I do the same with the mouse I can.

Can anyone tell me if a jog/shuttle will allow me to hear the timeline at various speeds?
