Subject:Output mute when recording

There have been times, (more often than not), when I have Sound Forge playing something on my audio board. If I forget to turn that input down, and press the record button, I get a HUGE feedback that really hurts if I'm wearing cans (headphones).

Does anyone know of a way that when the record button on Sound Forge is depressed that the output will mute. And when not selected, the playback output is open.

I would especially like to find out how this can be done in Vegas (Audio) as it would be helpful to be able to do vocal sessions and record on track 4, which would not output to the mixer, while tracks 1 - 3 would play.

The problem is with your soud card mixer section. You have the monitor input enabled. You need to disable it. In Vegas after you disable the sound cards input monitoring, you need to enable input monitoring within Vegas and Vegas will handle the switching you described.
