Subject:TMPGEnc video file

Hello
I have created by TMPGEnc a mpeg2 video file which has the original extension .m2v and an audio file .wav.
To adjust some sync. problem I would open the audio file and attach the video one so to work on them but it seems that the extension .m2v it is not recognized by my Sound Forge 6.0.
What should I do.
