Subject:Audio mutes itself!!!???

When I insert a plugin to a track the audio mutes. I've been thru the preferences but there is something I'm overlooking, there.
I'm also using CDA5 and did'nt have to do any adjustments in the preferences, there it play's audio when I'm adjusting an EQ or any other plug-in.
I would rather use SF for mastering but can't for the reason above.
