Is there someway to disable the Scott Studio Dialog box from appearing when "Save As"? Thanks Gary |

Save As Microsoft Wave instead of Scott Studios Wave. Scott is identical audio-wise, but includes a special metadata chunk for certain broadcast systems. J. |

I think I understand the issue. The problem is sometimes when doing a "save as" you just look at the last part of the description (ie the extention). I've done this by mistake on several occassions where I chose the scott studios wave instead of the microsoft. I have no idea what the scott studios wave format is, except what was posted above. I'm not sure if this may cause an incompatibility issue if I save in the scott studios wave format by mistake, if a player does not support playback of this format. Chances are that it won't support it. Seems like their could be some kind of option to disable the scott studios format from appearing, or a preference setting to allow a "save with scott studios information for .wav format." This is always a problem when the same file extention is used for different veriations of a file format. Similar to standard .MP3 and mp3pro. I hate that B.S., if you change the format then register for a new file extension. We the average consumer PC geek, can't look at all the header information to be able to tell the difference without a different file extension. |

I don't know if this is recommended by Sony ... in fact it's probably not. I don't have Sound Forge installed on this machine so I don't know if the procedure is the same. I have renamed the sctplug.dll to sctplug.dll.old in the following directory: C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Vegas 4.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\sctplug It may be Sony instead of Sonic Foundry for you. I have not had any problems yet with Vegas. |

Renaming the Scott plug-in DLL is a good workaround. However, if you uninstall/reinstall the application or install an update, the plug-in will appear and you'l need to rename it again. If you click on About in the Save As dialog in Sound Forge (or Render As in Vegas), it will display the path for plug-in DLL. |
