I am new to SF and need some help with workflow. I have a series of CDs with a live performance on them. They are split track with band on L and vocals on R. They were also recorded at a fairly low level. I need to mix them down into a final non-split channel CD. What I think I need to do is: 1. Balance volume with-in the tracks - ie raise portions of the vocals where they are too soft. - Do I do this with "volume", "dynamics", or "Wave Hammer" 2. Correct EQ 3. Mix channels with "Channel Mixer" to give a mono mix on both chanels. 4. Final tweek with "Wave Hammer" for final levels. - Should this be done on the whole track, or should I select individual portions of the track. What I am concerned about is that when I was playing it seemed like I was running wave hammer several times over the session and am concenred about over compression/artifacts creeping in. |

You really need a multitrack app like Vegas or Acid to do this, as SF with only play back a single file at one time. You could do these things 'one at a time' before combining the tracks into one, but the results will be somewhat 'hit or miss', and may take quite a few tries before s satisfactory result is obtained. geoff |
