Subject:Trying to record vinyl

I Have my record player hooked up to my stereo and then to the pc through the line in but I have no idea how to record from there. I have Sonic Foundry Sound Forge XP studio. If I switch to the tv, I can hear the sound through the computer speakers. Can I record that? If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it greatly.
