Subject:how do I mix 2 channels keep only the common parts

Running SF-6.0

I have a Stereo recording of a 1960's Mono LP.

I want to mix the 2 channels into one, but only want what is common to both channels. This will eliminate any pops/clicks/fuzz/static or whatever since they won't be on both channels.

Any suggestions?

I tried PROCESS - CHANNEL CONVERT - DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CHANNELS
But that results in the opposite effect. All I get from that are the pops-clicks-and static. I thought maybe I could use that to my advantagem but still got nowhere.

HELP!

I'm not so sure that the two channels aren't identical. I would think that they are, in fact. If not, you may need to copy and paste good areas over the bad ones of the other channel. You would need to use markers to mark the exact location(s).
Good luck!

This is not an option. There are hundreds/thousands of pops.
I tried the noise reduction plug-in but it didn't do an adequate job.

Mixing the 2 channels is very noisy. Is this recording beyond help?

There's got to be a way.

First off clean the album and the buy a new quality cartridge for your turn table. This should elliminate a lot of the clicks on playback. Then rerecord the LP into Sound Forge. If it's a MONO recording, then remove one of the channels using the channel convert. Then use the noise reduction plugin, the vinyl restoration and click removal. Read through the help file and learn what all the settings do. The help file is very nice in describing what each setting does. This should get your pops/clicks down to a minimal number. You should then manually find the pops/clicks that still may be left. You could select the individual click and alter the settings in the cilck removal, to try and elliminate them, or you can zoom in far enough and use the pencil tool and then draw them out.
