I just used the Batch Converter to dither a dozen files from 32 to 16 bit. Opening the files upon completion, I discover that the files no longer have any waveform. I'd say they've been erased completely but each one still shows a specific time and size in mb. a] What happened? b] Is there any way to recover my files? |

If you saved the originals, then unfortunately you probably won't be able to recover the waves. Batch Converter is so buggy, it's better to always save as to another folder, keeping the original files safe. Sony either needs to fix this app or ditch it. We've been reporting problems for over a year now with no updates. |

Not only has it been ditched --- but if you are a current user and you need to re-register it for whatever reason, then you actually have to pay them another $20.00 to continue using it. I think Batch Converter is an excellent concept -- is it buggy well I guess so, considering tech support told me that it was. I wish they would fix - continue to sell it and support it as well. Well -- I guess it comes down to... SF 7 ACID Vegas CDA -- might be out the door, considering everyone that uses always refers to NERO as an alternative. I dunno excellent tools that seem to go without proper support and recognition, WHY??? Bye, Kevin |

Thanks, Kevin. I certainly agree that the batch converter is one great idea--It's been a while since I've used it [and don't remember having any problems with it back then]--it's just too bad that I didn't save the files to another location so as to save the originals. But I can't answer your question as to why it's no longer supported. Seems to me that if you build a good mousetrap that people will flock to buy it. Bad business sense, if you ask me. |

The "Batch Conversion" concept is great and quite a time-saver. If Sony ever went the extra mile and beefed it up to include additional video options, I'd put money down for it. Now, BC is both buggy and won't do a thing to a file that doesn't have an audio track. |

In the older Sound Forge's, Batch Converter was built in. It worked well. I have had issues with the new one as well and have been shocked that there has been no update. Now, a question - are they going to replace it with something? In my line of work, batching audio is essential. |

Though BC was a little buggy, it works for me most of the time. I recently ran an eq-comp-maximize scipt on about 700 educational program IDs & control number tags. To do each one individually would have taken me I don't know how long. I also convert large spoken word .wav-to-.mp3 files without problems. I hope Sony can re-issue or integrate a new batch conv. app. in the next version or SF. If there is one. |

...or...have Forge support scripts like Vegas does. That would be some kind of fine... Otherwise, an A/V converter that ditches the bugs and allows more support for video files. |

So HTF are we supposed to go about converting a whole bunch of files now ? One at a time ? Great. Hope they sort out an alternative soon - not often the functionality of a suite is reduced, for no apparent reason.... geoff |

Wavelab 4 also has all the batch converting you could ever want. Build in...fast and rock solid. Sorry - but I had to ditch Forge a while ago once I tried WL 4. There is really no comparision. Cuzin B |

If you have a moment make the following comparison... http://www.pluginpresets.com/images/wl5_pics/Review_Guide_WaveLab5.pdf This is a very interesting comparison, and I wonder about the future of CDA5 and some SF7 functionality. |
