After uninstalling SF 7 effects not seen by SF6 -Sound Forge - PC

Subject:After uninstalling SF 7 effects not seen by SF6 Posted by: vladi Date:4/29/2004 1:51:01 PM For some time I had installed both SF6 and SF7 and they both worked well. When I uninstalled SF7, now I have a problem because I lost almost all effects and plug ins in SF6 which I want to keep using. I have checked the Sonic Foundry folder 'Shared Plug-Ins' and the effects' .dll files are there. I wonder if someone can help me to link the effects back to SF6. Also I noticed that after uninstalling SF7 there are still many files left behind in Sony Setup folder - about 30Mb of cabinet files. Is it safe to delete them all? I wrote to Sony support about his but got no answer. Many thanks for any advise.

This will allow you to migrate the Sonic Foundry and Sony plugins so they appear in both Sonic Foundry Sound Forge 6.0 and Sony Sound Forge 7.0. Right now, it sounds like they're just registered under the Sony umbrella, use the "Copy Sonic Foundry plugin License from Intalled Sony plugins."

Look for it under Start \| Programs \| Sonic Foundry \| Utilities \| Migration Tools. The Sony ones that were installed by Sound Forge 7 are no longer on the hard drive because you uninstalled it. But those are the ones that are registered now, which is why you need to re-register the Sonic Foundry DirectX plug-ins, which do exist. Yes, it is OK to delete the Sound Forge 7 files in the Sony Setup folder. If you ever install Sound Forge 7 again, those files will appear again in that folder.
