Subject:44khz to 96khz or 192khz same procedure like hardware upsampling?

hi there! I guess you heard of cd players or special hardware upsampling units that upsample normal cds at 44khz to 96khz or even 192khz. I was lucky to test some of those hardware units and the result was fascinating. now my question is what does this option do in soundforge? is it the same procedure that is used? will it improve the sound?
