Ive been having alot of problems recording to my laptop using Soundforge 7.0...... not really sure if its an issue with my laptop or the program. I use an RCA to headphone sized plug that goes from the mixer to the laptop input. When i plug in the power cord to the laptop i get all kinds of feed back which also shows up in the recording. I tried pluging the power cord to another outlet and i still get the same thing. can any one help me out as to what i would need to to prevent this in the future.

any info would be appreciated,
Jose

It's not the program or your laptop. There sounds like a couple problems going on. One is feedback, probably due to windows mixer settings. The other is grounding problems between your mixer and your laptop and using the wrong type of cord between them. Another possibility is using improper cords for stereo and mono signals. Start by reading your mixers owners manual, learn the difference between balanced and unbalanced connections. Learn the difference between Stereo and mono, and choosing the correct cord for each.
