Subject:Mastering, Need Help Desperately

Making music is not a problem, working keyboards and drum machines and the programs to record them in, is a walk in the park. But mastering has to be the toughest thing I have ever experianced. Maybe I'm lacking knowledge on what to tweak and what to gain, I dont know. Please anyone, if you have any information at all on mastering hip hop tracks, or just tracks in general, to the point where the end result is a smooth, professional quality sound. If anyone has any idea on how to help me, please do not hesitate. Thank you in advace, this forum has been helpful thus far, please don't fail me now...

There is no step 1, 2, 3 answer for this, there are too many variables and mastering is as much art as science. Assuming you know what mastering really is, very basically the order loudness and EQ relationship between all the songs/tracks on a CD/album do lots of research maybe start here then spend a lot of time gaining experience or use the time to find a good ME (Mastering Engineer).
