I was presented with an audio tape that was recorded at such a faint level that it's extremely hard to make out many of the spoken words. Is there a way of bringing up the volume of the original recording as I re-record it on the computer? I'm using Screenblast Sound Forge 7.0 I really need to hear this student lecture! |

Well, you post nothing about your gear and audio chain so generally speaking either use the source's gain or your soundcard's record fader to get the levels in SF's recording window to peak between -3 and -6 dB. You will most likely have noise to deal with then but since SB SF doesn't support Noise Reduction you will be left to try and notch out the noise with EQ (if SB has EQ) and roll off the freqs. above say 3 kHz and below say 500 Hz depending on the voice's timbre.
