Was just wondering if anyone has seen this before. Was trying to open an MP3 file in Sound Forge 6.0e, and on certain files im getting an error that says "the file format plugin for the specified format was not properly initialized" Ive tried just about everything, including reinstalling, but still get that same error message (but only on certain files). Thanks Jay |

A couple of things to try: 1. Install QuickTime, available from the Apple web site (free download). Be sure to do a custom install, and select all of the components for installation. You'll need to restart Sound Forge after installing QuickTime. Why: Perhaps the file really isn't a true MP3 file, so the QuickTime plug-in is being tried for reading the file. If you don't have QuickTime installed, that is the error message you'll typically see. 2. Load a media file, select Render As, and choose the MP3 format. Either try to render to MP3 or click Custom. You should either be prompted to register for MP3, or you can click the Register button in the custom settings dialog. Why: You need an MP3 license to use the MP3 plug-in to read/render files after your trial encodes have been exhausted. |
