Through hours of messing around with sound forge i managed to remove the singers voice, bass and partiel of thedrums from my mp3 file to just have the guitars playing, but still witl a slight presence of the drum cymbols in the background. I don't recall what i did to even get this far only recalling the last step i did which was going to: Process/Channel Coverter/ then inversing both left and right channel mix. My question is could someone teach me the method to do this again but having it to where its just the clean sound of the guitars and nothing else. Also is thier a way to "splice" the file and seperate each sound i.e. (guitar 1, guitar 2, bass, drums, singer) taking each "segment" and manipulating it or what not and add remove to other files etc? |

The only reason you got as far as you did was because the singer's voice was recorded dead center in mono, while most of the instruments were spread out through the stereo field. If you wanted to remove the guitar then you would have to have had an original recording in which the guitar was dead center mono while the singer was off on one channel. Again, you would have needed a recording with only the drum dead center mono in order to remove the drum. if you're going to have all these different recordings available then it would probably be just as easy to record each one separately to begin with. Also note that this process deletes the item that is in the center position and throws it away. It doesn' preserve it. There is nothing you can do to pull one instrument out of the mix and keep it as a separate recording. |

Process / Channel Converter / Mono / Set From left to 100% and From right to -100%. Experiment. You may get a little bit lucky once in a while. |
