Subject:Recording with CD Quality :S - sorry

This is probably a really dumb question but...Ive been trying to make 30 second samples from particular points on a CD. My Question is how do i keep it sounding like CD Quality? It ends up sounding less full and tinny, even though im using 41000khz and 16 bit. It sounds tinny both before and after saving it as a wav. I was thinking maybe I'd Have to change the kbps, but I cant figure out how to do that. Any Ideas?

Cheers

If all you are doing is extracting the 30sec bits, then nothing could be changing the quality.

Are you *sure* you are 'saving as' a WAV file, and not as an MP3 or similar ?

Is it sounding tinny when played back through your soundcard before/after, or are you comparing it with the audio when played through a CD player ? That could be just the quality of your soundcard.....

geoff
