Subject:Video Soundtrack

Hi
I'm new to Soundforge. One thing I can't quiet fathom out.
If I import an AVI file the video plays ok however there is no soundtrack. Strangely the audio plays back when I'm in the file selection box and 'auto' is selected. However as soon as I attach the avi there is no audio present. Both the AVi audio track and Soundforge are set to 16 bit. The AVI plays fine in Windows Media player.
Any suggestions?
