I use Sound Forge to edit DAT recordings of classes that my wife gives. We'd like to be able to convert the digital files to text to use as a base for a book. Is there software that will do this? I see Dragon and other speech recognition software supports mobile recorders, but I don't see how this would work with Sound Forge. Any help gratefully apprieciated!!

I suppose if you are working with the audio in real time. You could play the audio into your mic-in , and then have the speech to text engine generate the text for you. The challenge is that the Dragon Naturally Speaking, needs to learn the authors tonal and speech patterns. That means it should be fed the real time audio playback in pieces, corrected, taught and then finalized with respect to the authors preference.

In summary I would start by editing then playing the audio into the Spech to text environment.
