Subject:Clipping

I am new to Sound Forge and am having difficulty recording from a cassette tape deck. If tape is played through sound card it sounds fine, however, both channels are clipped when recording. I have not found a way to prevent this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You probably haven't adjusted the recording volume level. Double-click on the little speaker icon in the lower right corner of the screen to open up the sound card's mixer control panel. Click Options / Properties / Recording / OK. You'll now be looking at the controls for recording instead of the controls for playback and monitoring. Adjust the Line input there to reduce the volume until it doesn't clip anymore.
