The help file in 7.0b tells me to go to the tools menu and click on 'Detect Clipping'. This command doesn't appear to be there.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, that command doesn't seem to be there, either. I am starting to wonder if I am in the right 'tools' menu. Is there more than one? So far, after 12 hours of trying various things, all I can do is extract the audio from a CD. After I do this, all track information is lost and I can't recover it. The GUI for this program looks like it was written in the early 90s, but the Help About says I have 7.0b. I am wondering if the trial version has serious limitations. All I would want this program to do is set amplitude & equalization before converting to a compressed format with another software program. As things stand, I can't find any way to do this.

Detect Clipping is only included in the pro version of Sound Forge. Sounds like you are looking at the lighter "Audio Studio" version. There's a comparision chart on the website if you want to learn more.

Well! No wonder! Thanks for the info. At least now I know I'm not going crazy!
