Subject:Exception in Forgek.dll when scanning audio plugins

Hi. When loading Sound Forge, at the point where it scans for audio plugins, I get the following error message: 'An execption occured when trying to run "C:\PROGRA~1\Sony\SOUNDF~1.0\forgek.dll,_SfPlugIn_Grovel@16-1 Sonic_Foundry_Grovel_Event' After clearing the error messages I find that only the in-build Sound Forge Directx plugins work e.g. Chorus. Other Directx plugins, such as Noise Reduction 2, are not shown in the organiser. Also any attempt to change the favourites results in the error appearing again. I have also tried deleting the DXCache from the registry to no avail. The only change that has been made to my PC is XP SP2. Thanks for any help you can offer. |

You likely have a .dll installed that is masquerading as a DirectX audio plug-in when it is not, which breaks inside the MS filter mapper. Try a tool called DXMan from www.analogx.com to narrow it down. Or it's the 8.3 thing specified in the knowledge base. J. |

Hi J, thanks for help. I ran DXman. It did come back with a few files that didn't exist, but non that sound forge looks at I dont think. I also checked 'NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation' for the 8.1 problem, and it was already set to '0'. I uninstalled, cleared out the registry of all Sony/Sound Forge entries and installed to the default location. No luck. So I tried installing simply to C:\sforge. Still no luck. I even went back to my old copy of Sound Forge 5. Same thing but with FRGERN.dll. Probably still the plugin chainer, but with a different name. Can anyone think of what else it could be? |

I have used DXMan and deleted all SonicFoundry dx plugin. I then uninstalled sound forge and reinstalled. Sound Forge loads correctly now, however... Noise Reduction 2.0 is not shown, neither is the directx option in the file menu. I also noticed that Sound Forge no longer scans for audio plugins on startup. I have tried deleting dxcache from the registry, but still no noise reduction/directx menu. Any ideas? |

Re-install nr2. Or you can just try to re-reg it by finding sfnrpack.dll and drag/drop onto Sound Forge. J. |

I have access to use Sony Sound Forge 7.0b, and I want tried some of their effects on vocal tracks I have created, and I loved what the "Delay" effect did to my vocal track. Anyways, I want to have access to More effects, so I installed a multi-effect software plug-in called "iZotope Trash", but I have no clue on how I can use these effects in Sound Forge. Please help!
