Here's my recipe for building your own CD Tower using Nero. 1. Get a SCSI CDrom Tower with it's own power supply. 2. Plug your SCSI burners into the Towers SCSI Cord. 3. Set each burner to a unique SCSI ID. Some Towers have individual SCSI ID switches on the outside, where you can connect these to each burner and use the switch to set the SCSI ID number. If not then use the CD burners jumper switches to set the ID for each burner and make sure they all have their own unique SCSI ID. 4. The SCSI Tower should also come with a SCSI terminator. Connect the last burner on the SCSI chain to the 2nd external SCSI connector and plug the SCSI Terminator onto the external SCSI connector. 5. Make sure none of the SCSI burners have a terminator jumper set, you only need one SCSI terminator on a SCSI chain. 6. Purchase a PCI SCSI controler card to put inside your PC. Make sure it does not share an IRQ with any other hardware. I recommend Tekram SCSI controlers, I found they give the best bang for the buck and are well supported. Of course Adaptec SCSI controler cards are good also, but you will pay a good price for a good card also. http://www.tekram.com/ 7. Connect the external SCSI connector of the controler card to the first SCSI connector of your tower. 8. Purchase the SAME manufacturer and model for ALL the burners you are placing in your tower. 9. Make sure all the firmware on each burner matches. 8 & 9 are important, otherwise you are destine to have burning problems, I recommend Plextor Drives. I have 7 Plextor 8/20 burners for my tower. Of course there are newer faster models by todays standards. 10. Get Nero. I'm using Nero v5.5 for my burner tower. I had to purchase seperate multiburner support, to allow it to burn to multiple burners. Not sure if it's needed in Nero v6.0 or comes standard. 11. In Nero enable "Use Multiple Burners" located on the "Burn" tab. 12. Burn away to all the burners simultaneously in your tower. Red |

....but you will need to experiment as to the attainable reliable max burning speed. I can burn at 8 x to 14 CD-RWs on a pair of Adaptec 2930U ultra scci controllers. I use Padus DiscJuggler, which is a little on the expensive side, but was the only one that did muliti when I started out ... ( http://www.padus.com ) geoff |
