I bought the Audio studio to record a cd of my daughter singing for gifts for christmas. I think this is beyond my talent. We have many background music files. Is there a way that my daughter can sing..with the mic and hear the music (kareoke style) while I record? If this product won't do it....any suggestions. Christmas is coming soon. I am willing to go a different route if needed. Thanks, Scott |

Sound Forge can't do this, because it doesn't allow simultaneous playback and recording. There is a way to achieve this but would require some jumping through hoops. Basically, what you would do is playback the audio in some other player like Windows Media player, then record your daughters singing into Sound Forge. Then you would open both files in Sound Forge and mix them together, and do your best to try and sync them together, which could be pretty tedious. What you need is a "multitrack" software application. Look at Sony Vegas. This will allow you to playback as many seperate tracks as you wish, and then record as many tracks along with this as you wish also. I can be a little easier than that. If you set your computer's sound card to record from "Mixed Output", "Speaker", or "What U Hear", then you can use the sound card's mixer to mix the playback from Media Player with the input from the microphone and record them in Sound Forge in real time. This way there won't be any syncronization issues. Unfortunately you may not know how good the mix will be until you listen to it after recording, so it may take some experimentation and retakes before you get it right. |
