Subject:Audio recording from DVD or Avi audio tracks

I'm a novice with Sound Forge, so please bear with me. I seem to recall that there was a way to simply record the audio tracks of DVDs or Avi files in real time while playing the DVD or Avi. But for some reason I can no longer do this, or can't recall how I once did it. Can someone out there help?

Thanks,
Shikaku

If you set your sound card's recording properties screen to select "Mixed Output", "Stereo Output", "What U Hear", "PC Speaker", or whatever seems like one of those, Sound Forge will record any sounds that your computer produces from any software, theoretically.

For AVI files, you often can open these directly in Sound Forge and then save just the audio portion to a new WAV file.
