Subject:Virtos Noise Wizard

Last month I downloaded and purchased Virtos Noise Wizard. It worked fine - for a while! I was in the process of restoring over three hours of Christmas music from 3 cassette tapes which are no longer in print. This was a total of 60 tracks. After I had used the Noise Wizard on about 50 of those tracks the Preview function quit working correctly. It would only preview about 2 or 3 seconds of the song (or selection) instead of the entire portion I had selected. If I clicked "OK" the noise reduction would work but without being able to preview more than 2 or 3 seconds, it is not very useful to me.

The other functions of Virtos work fine, allowing a preview of whatever length I have selected. It is just the Noise Wizard noise reduction part that messes up.

I have unloaded and reloaded the application. The publisher has sent a new dll to try which did not make any difference. I have the latest version of Sound Forge 7 as well as DirectX 9.0C.

Yes, I have the Sony Noise Reduction plugin and really like it, but for these tracks the Virtos seemed to do a better job with fewer artifacts.

Any suggestions?

Thank you,
David Vollmer

In the bottom right of the DX plug-in window, check the "Selection" settings.

Also, make sure "real-time" is still checked (lower right) and/or check your non-realtime preview settings in Options->Prefs->Previews.

Assuming that is the case, while non-realtime preview of DirectX plug-ins is nigh pointless these days, that setting is still persisted on a per plug-in basis in Sound Forge, which would explain why the others probably still work.

Those suggestions appear to have worked. I don't know how they got changed but I'll give Virtos a good test tomorrow.

Thanks.
