Subject:Clicking sound when editing

Occasionally when I highlight a portion of a piece and perform, say an EQ process, I will end up with a click at the beginning and/or end of the highlighted section. The EQ worked OK but now I have one or two clicks. If I use the Click and Crackle remover, it will work but may introduce one or more new clicks located at one or both ends of the selection.

What's happening here?

Thanks,
David Vollmer

Do you have Options > Snap to Zero (crossings) enabled?

What format are these files? I don't do this kind of editing on compressed formats much (if ever) but does this happen on .wav files?

Mjhig,

This is happening with .wav files.

Under Options neither "Auto Snap to Zero" or "Auto Snap to Time" are checked. Should one or both of them be checked?

Under Options>Preferences and the Editing tab the "Snap to zero-crossing slope:" says "Any Crossing", if that is what you are talking about.

Click Snap to Zero to activate. This will cause the start and end of your selections to snap to zero crossings (the point where the wave crosses the centerline). If you don't snap to zero crossings you can get the results you are seeing.

The preference settings should be fine.

Thank you. I'll do that.
