SF 7.0 isn't acknowleging mic if someone could help :) -Sound Forge - PC

I'm new to Sound Forge. I got 7.0, a UA-5 and Shure SM57. The mic and UA-5 work great- I can hear the mic on the computer so I know it's there and working. My sound goes in and out of the UA-5 properly, it is currently my default for recording and sound. I changed the settings on Sound Forge to the same but for some reason it isn't registering the mic at all! It says defualt is the UA-5 but it doesn't "hear" it for lack of a better word. When I first tried it everything worked great! The microphone picked up and it would record. I haven't changed the settings but when I oened a new session it stopped. Since I've tried resetting the settings, reinstalling sound forge and resetting it again. I don't know what else to try. Anyone have some ideas?
