Subject:Serious "Save As" xxxxx.wav error

When performing a file "Save As" xxxxxxx.wav the file created on disk is written as sp0000.wav. I have tried the "Save As" to different file names, different directories, etc. and the resultant file is always SP0000.wav. Doing the "Save As" to other file extensions works as expected - this error only occurs with the .wav extension. I was running 7.0a when I discovered this issue, I upgraded to 7.0b thinking it might correct the problem, but no such luck.

I discovered this problem after recording a concert performed by my wife last night. I started to cut the recording into tracks and the very "Save As" wiped out a file containing half of the concert. Unfortunately there is no way to recover data from a "Save As" either. Of course, I will now alter my workflow to take this kind of potential problem into account.

I'm assuming that this is unique to my machine as I'm sure that there would be a few threads on the topic - my searches turned up nothing.

Any ideas...?

In the doghouse,

Shayne

Save as Microsoft not Scott Studios .wav.

It's a long shot but check your Temporary files/Record folder (Options> Preferences> Perform) and check any files that are in there.
Be sure you have "Show all files" selected on your OS settings.

You are correct, the error does not occur with the Microsoft version. Unfortunately, I did not notice the distinction.

I am curious as to why the Scott Studios format only writes to SP0000 - not that it makes any difference.

Thanks for the suggestion.

rraud,

Thanks, did a thorough search last night, but double checked per your recommendation - it is not to be found.

Thanks,

I revised my search to "Scott Studios" and found some info on the SP0000 issue. I have chosen to eliminate this wav format per the instructions. I don't want to ever get bitten by this one again.

Thanks for the quick feedback.
