Subject:Cancelling out noise

I read somewhere in a magazine how to sample a "silent" part of a recording (ie just the noise) and use this as a pattern to cancel out the noise throughout a recording using SoundForge. I can't remember how this was done (except for how to sample the noise, that I can do).
Anyone know the rest of the proceedure?

You need the Noise Reduction plugin, which costs extra, but is included with some SF bundles.
