Hello -- Since SF8 has VST support, will it work with TC Powercore without using a vst wrapper?

Thanks -
Kevin

It should, but who knows? Unless you are a beta tester, and they usually sign a non-disclosure agreement.

I think that Kevin, like myself, is hoping that Sony can answer some of our questions about SF8 so that we can make some plans about purchases and equipment that we use professionally on a day to day basis.

I have a PowerCore Element PCI and it works natively with ACID 5.0 and Sound Forge 8.0.

Jason - do you or any of the guys there have a UAD-1? If so, do you know how well it works with the new Sony VST support?

You've probably heard that running the UAD under DirectX in Vegas has been a nightmare, with the UAD causing native CPU 'munching'. We're hoping VST support will be the cure...

Thanks
Ben

I don't have one installed myself, but ACID 5.0 and Sound Forge 8.0 have been tested with the UAD-1, as well. I believe the general consensus was that things ran much more smoothly with VST than DirectX, though I think some of the CPU munching was addressed regardless.

If you need to confirm for either card (or any VST for that matter), I'm sure there will be a trial available when 8.0 goes live.

Thanks -- this is good info.

Now will there be tutorials for the scripting functions?

Also --- will there be a preset manager for the VST functionality?

Also --- can the CD Architect image files be stored and recalled, just like ordinary files and burned for later use, instead of creating the image every time the CD is going to be burned. I think Nero has this feature where the burn image can be recalled.

Thanks -
kevin

There will be a number of sample scripts included and a scripting API document available on the website. There are also a number of tools you can use to explore the API directly in the primary scripting .dll.

Custom VST presets are supported via the standard .fxp and .fxb file mechanisms laid out in the VST SDK. They will not appear in the preset manager, sorry. Since they are actually files (as opposed to DirectX registry entries), they can be distributed fairly easily across multiple machines.

CD Architect has it's own project type (.cdp) similar to a .veg or .acd file and you can also render the entire disk to a .wav image for later use.

But you don't have to take my word for it. Try before you buy. That's why the trial versions are there.

Thanks again -- and I will buy the upgrade, simply because SF has done so much for me, that I basically owe it to the developers.

Thanks -
