I am completly new to this entire audio editing scene and I am confused as to what software I actually need. Basically what I want to do is to mix and edit songs for performances. I need to be able to adjust tempos and times, and edit music to remove center sections, along with the begining and end sections. This system appears to be able to do this if I record my own music, which I will. But I also need to do all these effects to music from cd's which you would buy in the store. Is this the type of software I should get, or are there any suggestions or advice as to what should work best for me? Message last edited on3/6/2005 9:03:06 AM byflag_gurl. |

Sound Forge would be able to do a lot of what you're trying to do. A better tool would be CD Architect do to the type of editing you want to accomplish. Sound Forge 8.0 will be here in the middle of March and it includes CD Architecture, which will give you the best of both worlds in what you're trying to accomplish. Another option is Sony Vegas. Vegas gives you most of Sound Forges features and all of CD Architects features, but now it's a multitrack program, where Sound Forge is limited to being a stereo editor.. So if you want to create your own music later and be able to seperately record different musical instruments, Vegas is a better route to go. I would start by downloading all the demos of each program found under the downloads section. If you have any questions users like myself who are familiar with these programs can assist you with any questions.
