Subject:Purchase Chose compare Sound Forge 7.0 and Acid 5.0

Forgive me if this question is answered somewhere in the forum. I’ve not been able to find it. If it is somewhere, just point me to the link.

What I want is a comparison between Sound Forge Audio Studio 7 and Acid Music Studio 5. When I run a comparison at the CompUSA web site it says the products are essentially the same. If that is so, fine.

I do own Vegas Movie Studio and have used it for about a year so I understand something of how Video and audio editing works.

What I want to do with strictly audio editing is to dub existing cassette tapes to CD or MP3 files, the same with existing old vinyl records. I’d want the Audio Restoration feature for this. I don’t know if both programs have that or not.

I also want to take existing MP3 or CD sound tracks, clip out pieces of music or sound effects and put them onto a new edited track, again either CD or MP3, that I can use for music, sound tracks, and sound effects for our Reader’s Theatre group which does old time radio shows.

I really don’t think I need a professional version of these programs. The consumer version would be fine with me. Both are listed at $69.95. I’d rather not buy both. Based on what I’ve put down above, is one better for my purposes than the other?

Thanks in advance.

Jim

By your description of what you want to do, Sound Forge is the program you want.SF studio will work for editing, but does not come with CD Arc, or DX support, ect.
See the comparision chart. (SF-8 s features are not listed yet. )

Acid is mainly a looping app and Vegas is multi-track.

Ditto what rraud said. Sound Forge Audio Studio would likely be more up your alley.
