Posted by: luces1 Date:3/14/2005 8:07:39 AM Hey everybody, I know this sounds odd, but I have been using SF5 since it came out,but I have never had to work with a bunch of 6/8 meter files until now. My question is, would somebody please shed some light on the mathematical formula for establishing proper ACID Loop meta info for these types of files. I think I am just brain dead today because my solutions are NOT working. Basically I have a bunch of groove type stuff that I rendered from my midi software at 6/8 82 bpm,but for the life of me I cannot get SF to establish the proper meter. I know SF only sees 4/4, but I have tried setting the tempo at 75% the original at 4/4,I have set the number of beats to 6 and a bunch of other stuff,and well, I'm kinda stuck. SO any leads are tremendously appreciated. Thanks,luces

Your time signature could be 6/4 and ACID/Sound Forge wouldn't know the difference. Also, Sound Forge's ACID Loop Creation Tools assume that when you make a selection, it's a 4 beat selection and the ACID Loop Creation Tools toolbar's Tempo field reflects that. In any case, in order for a 6 beat sample to match a tempo of 82 BPM, it has to be about 4.39 (or 4.4 seconds) long. The formula: 360 / (tempo) = (number of seconds) So: 360 / (82 BPM) = (4.39 seconds) Once you get the proper length, you would go and use the Edit ACID Properties tool as you normally do (set the sample to 6 beats), then save with the metadata.
