Does anyone know which version of Sound Forge that was first to support WDM drivers? I use version 5.0, and my soundcard doesn't seem to support playback of 24-bit wave files using the MME driver (on win98se), and it seems that MME is the only option for 5.0... |

Hmmm... Awfully quiet here.... Does anyone know where I could find that info, then? I have searched through the Sony pages with no results... |

Always have supported WDM through the Windows Wave MME emulation. MME has been the only option until version 8, which has added ASIO. What does "doesn't seem to support" really mean? What are your settings, and what are you then doing - step by step. Peter |

Ok, I'm doing quite a bit of guessing here, so help is highly appriciated! (But now, at least, I know that there's no reason to upgrade just for this reason.) I have recently bought a ESI Juli@ soundcard, which seems to be working allright apart from crashing Sonar quite frequently and also that I can't play 24-bit wav files in SoundForge 5.0... My computer is a P3 866MHz/256MB running Win98se. I haven't really found much settings in SF, other than the option to select playback and record devices, both of which I've chosen as "Juli@ch12" (which are the card's analog out/inputs). So what am I doing? I'm exporting 24-bit 44kHz wave files from Sonar and then opening them in SoundForge for editing/mastering. The files seem to play, the meters inside SF are moving, but the meters in the Juli@ mixer is not. I'm also able to apply effects and when I save as mp3 or 16-bit wave the files sound again, so there's nothing wrong with the actual files. An odd thingie is that I've managed to get the 24-bit files to sound when I chose "Juli@ch1234" (which I guess means that the sound is also sent thru the digital outputs (ch34)) as playback device... But then 16-bit files are silent!! I don't know, this is probably an issue with Juli@ rather than SoundForge, but I'm thankful for any input! Message last edited on3/18/2005 6:42:11 AM byandroid. |
