Subject:Bug Report: Shift-R displays Region dialog?

Just getting into a test session with a bunch of VO and found that Shift-R still displays the Region dialog...even tho the Help file indicates this shortcut should suppress the Region dialog... Ideally(to promote consistency across the product line) - the shortcut key "R" should create a region with no dialog (just like Vegas does) and have Shift-R pull up the dialog if the user needs to set some specifics....just faster for workflow...:) Can anyone else confirm? Cheers! VP |

For me, both R and Shift+R create a region without displaying a dialog. |

mpd, Really? I can't get rid of this dialog with either of the shortcuts. Have I got an option set wrong somewhere? Actually - I just reset all my options to default and no change. Any specifics on your files? New file? Existing? Are you just making a selection and hitting R or Shift-R? I am just opening up any old .wav file and making a selection. I hit R - I get the dialog...I hit Shift-R -I get the dialog.... Update when you can. Cheers! VP |

Existing wav file. I reset all of my keybaord shortcuts to the default. Open file. Select -> R -> Region created, no dialog Select -> Shift-R -> Region created, no dialog This is a minor hassle for me because I typically match my region names against whatever script I am working from, so this adds an extra step to open the region properties, or to edit the region name in the region list. [time goes by[ This looks like it could be a bug with the way the Always Ask For Region and Loop Names option is implemented. I have this checked, I always get the dialog (as expected). If I have this unchecked, then I never get the dialog, but I would expect to get it for the R case. This also appears to be a different behavior from SF7b, but the option there doesn't seem to work. ? |

I believe the pref is broken in 7.0 and the shift behavior is broken in 8.0. I'll see that it is cleared up. J. |

Sonic, Any chance when you are looking at this that you could clear it up so hitting R creates a region (No dialog) like in Vegas? And Shift R pulls the dialog? VP |

It is a long standing precedent in Sound Forge that Shift + "most things" bypasses their modal UI and just applies the last used settings for the given action. That won't change. But I will toggle these two behaviors when the "Always ask for Region and Loop names" general preference is disabled, which is how it is supposed to work and will give you what you want J.
