Subject:SF4.5 and Windows XP Pro lag Posted by: Vuke Date:4/28/2005 10:07:58 AM SF4.5 worked forever in Windows Me. Upgraded to Windows XP Home. Worked there, too. Now, in Windows XP pro, there's a lag in playback befoe sound actually starts playing. Makes precise editing a pain. Tried the SF optiion for correcting for inaccurate sound cards. No luck. System is P4 HT, 2.8 gh, mucho ram. Sound card is Sound Max. Any ideas?

Always start fresh. Especially true if you convert to NTFS. Problems that exitsted before an upgrade will not always be fixed. 1. Scan for spyware, adware and viruses. 2. Run chkdsk /r and reboot when prompted. This could take a while so be patient. 3. Defrag your drives. Again, be very patient. 4. Make certain you have the latest video and audio card drivers for your hardware. 4.5 works great on XP Pro here. A lot of people forget that normal system maintenance can make all the difference. Please report back your findings.
