I use Sound Forge 6.0 to edit audio. I was using Win2KPro, 1.6GHz P4, 1GB RDRAM, Pinnacle DV500 DVD, Premiere 6.5. I have Premiere Pro but haven't installed it yet. I up graded my computer to Win XP PRO in order to use PPro. But, before I install PPro, I wanted to get everything back to working order. I thought I had that. I just got a very good job converting some cassette teaching tapes to CD. I wanted to copy the cassettes to my HD, run a de-hiss filter on them and burn them to CD. I opened my SF app only to find that it will play files, but it won't record. I checked all of my connections and input settings. It should work.... but nothing. My audio goes through some switching on it's way from my Mackie mixer to the sound card's line in. I by-passed that and went straight in. Still nothing. Are there any SF (or any other audio apps) users here that upgraded to XP Pro that have experienced anything similar? I thought I might need an update for SF for XP. I went to their site and noted that they have 6.0e available and I only had 6.0a. I did the 24Meg update, rebooted, and I'm where I was. I can import an existing file, edit it, export, etc., but I can't get an input signal. I uninstalled SF and reinstalled it including the 6.0e update. No go. I uninstalled my audio card drivers, rebooted, "Found New Hardware" came up and I reinstalled those. It is an Audigy (9400). Still nothing. I open SF, click on the record button and the meters in the dialog box are totally blank. Larry |

Have you checked that your soundcard and driver is installed properly ? Checked in the Windows/Audigy mixer applet that you have inputs enabled appropriately, and that device selected in SF Tools | Properties | Audio Device, etc ? When you upgraded, a different driver would have been installed, and SF may not be pointed to it ... geoff Message last edited on5/5/2005 2:59:41 AM byGeoff_Wood. |
